• You must be extremely motivated to become a leader in the engineering profession in the future.

• You must be enrolled in the same academic year as your GCSE, Scottish National 5, International Baccalaureate Standards, BTEC level 2 exams, or equivalent exams when you apply.

• To pursue studies in A levels, BTEC level 3 Diploma/Extended Diploma, Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers, or the International Baccalaureate higher level, you must intend to attend school or a sixth-form institution for a minimum of two years.

• Applicants must commit to studying one of the following topics to A level (England, Wales, and Northern Ireland), or Advanced Higher (Scotland), unless they are pursuing a BTEC Level 3 in engineering:
